I might not make it out of this coffee shop alive

So I have this incredible coffee shop below my apartment.

I go there about 3 times a week. I’m friends with the staff. And it’s my “peaceful” place when I need to go and bang out some writing, like I am right now.

Except … something has interrupted this peace.

Well, someone.

See, for the last 4 weeks or so, I’ve noticed a *very nervous* looking older woman come into the coffee shop almost every time I’m working there.

At first, I only noticed the nervousness.

But slowly, over the last few weeks, she’s begun to drift closer and closer to me while I’m working.

She’s even started making eye contact.

And I swear, she tried to start up a conversation once when I was mid-email.

Of course, my rational brain chalks it up to her just being a lonely older woman. And of course the fact that I’m in a coffee shop opens me up to these sorts of situations.

But my (less rational?) brain chalks it up to her wanting to invade my peaceful writing time, infiltrate my apartment and hold my family and pets hostage.

And right now, as I write this very sentence, she’s literally moved to the OTHER side of the glass from me, but outside. She’s like 2 feet away.

What does all this have to do with copywriting?

Nothing. I just wanted a paper trail in case I don’t make it out of here alive.

Now … onto the tofu.

I just have a question for you. Are you a copywriter, or are you a business owner?

(Or something else? Lol.)

I’m just trying to get a sense of who is on my list.

If you respond, I’ll send you my favorite copywriting book recommendation from the last year, which I used to write the intro for this email.

David Patrick

P.S. — She has now turned to FACE me from the other side of the glass. Hopefully I make it out of here alive …
