Want to be a Great Copywriter? Learn These 3 Skills
Today, I want to talk about the concept of being a “lifelong learner.”
A lifelong learner is someone who is constantly curious, always adding new skills to their “toolbox” so they can become better at what they do.
It could be copywriting. Or woodworking. Or running. Doesn’t matter.
In my view, if you’re constantly curious about how you can improve the things you do, you’ll inevitably level up.
I believe adopting this mindset has been the single most important component of my success as a professional copywriter.
I knew that if I wanted to get ahead in my career, get more clients, and raise my salary, I had to grow my breadth of knowledge on the topic, and learn new skills to help me do my job better.
This all begs the question …
What skills do you need as a copywriter to grow?
Well, there are many.
But I’ve found three that have been the most impactful to my career, which could be impactful to yours, too.
They are:
Research: Learn what drives a customer’s purchase.
Writing: Learn to write (and write persuasively) through style and psychology.
The format: Learn to bend copy formats like email, sales pages, and ads to your will through structure and presentation.
Getting good in these three skills could catapult you ahead in your career. But more on this later.
For now, I’ve got a kayak and a river to attend to.
Enjoy your Sunday.
