Are all copywriters are rude and slow?

I’m scrolling through IG this morning literally wasting my life away, when a curious ad pops up in my feed.

The ad’s graphic features a bright blue background and a bearded man with hipster glasses.

The man, seemingly out of place, is displaying a strange combination of terror and shame on his face.

On the left side of the graphic, there’s writing in a chalkboard font:

Dump your
slow Copywriter.

Unlimited Copy.
One Price.

Above the ad, the text reads:

We made it easy to find Professional Copywriters 🏆

✔️ Reliably Fast. Period.
✔️ One Price

✔️ A+ Customer Support

Below the ad, the text reads:

Now, for a second, let’s set aside the fact that the copy in the graphic itself is incorrectly capitalized and some of it is in the passive voice.

And for just one more second, let’s ALSO set aside the fact that this ad reached me — a COPYWRITER — instead of a “business owner who needs copy,” which is a persona that aligns more closely with the ad’s creative.

The ad, if you’re wondering, is from a company called Copy Panda.

And I’m sharing it with you today — as well as the landing page — because it provides an interesting angle on how content companies are marketing their writers.

Now … I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I have my doubts that this company can actually provide the level of quality they claim at the pricing they charge.

Especially with unlimited edits.

But let’s imagine that their quality truly is great and their copy can indeed pull clicks and convert readers into buyers.

If that’s the case, then there are a few “qualities” that the ad and landing page call out, that you may want to model in your own messaging to clients.

(Of course, they have to be true.)

The most interesting qualities to me are:

  • “RELIABLY FAST. PERIOD. All of our plans have crazy fast turnaround time, typically 2 or 3 business days.”

  • “STRAIGHTFORWARD, CONSISTENT PRICING. Stop negotiating with writers who demand different pricing on every project and aren't reliable to work with.”

  • “AMAZING CUSTOMER SUPPORT. When you submit your project, a dedicated project manager will make sure we have the information up front. And make sure it's good on the way back.”

And honestly — I think ALL of these things are great qualities to use in your own marketing as a copywriter. And in my experience, they have, indeed, been important to the businesses I’ve worked with.

There is a theme to all of this. Can you see it?

Each of these qualities are reflective of a writer who is a pleasure to work with.

They’re all about what it’s like to work with their copywriters, not really about the quality of their writing.

Call me crazy … but I think that being a pleasure to work with is just as important as being a good copywriter.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. Below is a link to the landing page as well as the ad to study yourself.
